Style quiz

TWO WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE YOU.

Right now? Hungry. And Sleepy. Haha, jk.
Creative. And Loyal. With a large side of Awkward. (Sorry, that’s three. Apparently, I am also Rebellious.)

WHAT ARE YOUR TWO FAVORITE BRANDS FROM OUR STYLEFAV WEBSITE?

GRLFRND denim (I’m a denim addict and I adore their high-rise cuts) and P.E. Nation. I don’t actually post much activewear in my feed, but it’s definitely one of my go-tos for everyday outfits.

WHAT’S YOUR OPINION ON FASHION TRENDS, HAVE ANY TRENDS BECOME STAPLES IN YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

I think trends are great fun! They give you an opportunity to try new things and step outside of your comfort zone. Almost like trying on another personality. Y2K and 90s both have a solid place in my wardrobe, and the boho accessories trend from a few years ago found a permanent place there too. I don’t *love* the idea of wearing things only once or twice, so whenever I can, I try to thrift or shop vintage stores if I’m looking for items that I think are unlikely to be re-wearable or very trend-driven.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE AND HOW DID YOU DEVELOP IT?

I’d call my personal style “trans-pacific casual”. Hehe, that sounds super fancy, but it’s actually just a bit of a mish-mash of European and Parisian-inspired neutrals and classic designer silhouettes, Byron Bay boho pieces, Sydney surfer and California rock chick mom style. I’m sure it’s fairly reflective of what’s in style right now as well as what I find myself most comfortable in. It has a strong undercurrent of denim, black and white, band tees, leopard print and gold jewellery.

DESCRIBE THE OUTFIT THAT MAKES YOU FEEL THE MOST CONFIDENT.

I feel it’s hard to go past a beautifully tailored, well-fitting black pants suit and heels. There’s something about wearing beautiful fabrics that fit you like a glove, which just amps up anyone’s confidence levels. I’d probably add leopard print heels, gold jewellery and a band tee or embroidered camisole underneath, for a touch of personality.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND TELL YOUR PAST SELF DON’T WEAR THAT! DESCRIBE WHICH OUTFIT THAT WOULD BE?

Oh my, there are so many potential answers to this question. I was a 90s and early noughties kid, and we embraced some mighty-strange trends. I don’t think I’d ever actually tell myself *not* to wear something, because I had a blast in every single one of those insane, weird and wonderful outfits. But, in saying that, I did do some really tight Spice Girls-inspired space buns once and I wanted them to be sparkly, but I didn’t have glitter, so I painted over them with glitter nail polish. Let me tell you, that was no fun to remove. Ouch. Oh, I’d probably also try to stop myself from wearing any outfit that I had to keep pulling up, down or sideways to make sure it didn’t fall off and/or expose something it wasn’t supposed to. Mainly because they always distracted me from enjoying the thing that I was supposed to be enjoying at the time.

FAVORITE FRAGRANCE?

Eep! Another tie, between Chanel Coco Noir and Byredo Black Saffron. I adore those deep, dark, sweet but spicy fragrances.

WHAT’S THE MOST EXPENSIVE CLOTHING ITEM YOU’VE BOUGHT, AND DO YOU STILL HAVE IT?

I’ve always spent the most money on accessories: bags, shoes and shades. I think, probably, the most expensive thing I currently own is my Philip Lim 3.1 Pashli Leather Satchel, which retails for about $1800 US. I’ve also got an original old school Balenciaga Motorcycle bag circa 2007, which was one of the first things I bought when I started earning regular wages. It’s probably worth a bit too. I still have, and still use, both of them.

IF YOU COULD TAKE A YEAR-LONG PAID SABBATICAL, WHAT WOULD DO?

I’d write a book of poetry. And maybe a Sci Fi or Horror trilogy too. I’m not very good at relaxing. Can you tell?
